Accessibility Statement

Effective: 11 August 2026Last updated: 11 August 2026Version: 1.0

Our commitment

5 and 20 is committed to making the Platform accessible to as many people as possible, including veterans, serving personnel, emergency services workers, and their families who may experience physical or mental health conditions that affect how they use digital services. We are working towards the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

What we have done

  • Designed the Platform with a high-contrast dark theme for readability.
  • Used clear, plain language throughout the interface.
  • Provided a persistent crisis support button visible on every page in the members' area.
  • Ensured all interactive elements are operable by keyboard.
  • Used semantic HTML and ARIA labels for screen reader compatibility.
  • Designed layouts that respond to mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:

  • The custom cursor replacement may affect users who rely on the system cursor. If you need the system cursor, you can disable the custom cursor in your browser settings or contact us for assistance.
  • Some interactive charts may be difficult to navigate with a screen reader. We are working on adding text alternatives.
  • The Platform has not yet undergone a full third-party accessibility audit. We plan to commission one.

Alternative ways to access services

If you cannot access any part of the Platform, contact us via the Contact page and we will provide the information or service you need in an accessible format. The crisis resources listed in the app are also available by phone (Samaritans 116 123, Emergency 999, Shout text 85258) for anyone who cannot use the digital Platform.

Reporting an accessibility problem

If you find an accessibility issue, tell us using the Contact page. Please describe the problem and the page or feature affected. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Complaining about accessibility

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com or on 0808 800 0082. The EASS provides advice and support on discrimination issues under the Equality Act 2010.

Review

This statement was last reviewed on 11 August 2026. We will review it at least annually, or sooner if we make significant changes to the Platform.
